Today's question comes from the fabulous Tina over at Book Couture! I LOVE her blog name, I'll definitely be swinging by!
How do you spread the word about your blog? (e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)Here's a few ways that I've enjoyed getting the word out there...
- I've found the most success in "good" commenting on blogs that I enjoy reading and following. I also have a lot of friends who blog in other worlds, and I love to follow their site and comment on their work too because they're fabulous and interesting. Sometimes reading all the blogs that I follow (close to the max limit...) and commenting takes a lot of time (and I like to leave loooong comments, too), and it really almost feels like a part-time job at times, but you know what? I love "meeting" new book blogs and getting new recommendations on books as well.
- Posting it to Facebook for my friends to follow along is fun - and sometimes they share it out onto their site as well, which is such a nice treat!
- And of course! The weekly memes like this one are sometimes the best way to spread the word!
What do you do to get your blog known?
It's a pleasure to be a part of this with you all -- and I hope you enjoy my blog as well!
Happy Reading!

My Book Blogger Hop
I agree 100% with number 1. If you socialize and visit other blogs and comment, they will eventually come and check you out. I used to reciprocate but I am so overloaded at this point, I don't do it as much anymore. Guilt!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee and books! lol, we can be friends! I look forward to reading more posts.

I am a new follower - found you on the hop!! What a stack from the conference - I haven't been to one yet, sounds like a good time
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post, as always. I, too, have a variety of blogs I follow. So much to learn out there. And am close to my max limit *sighs*.
ReplyDeleteFor a long time, I had no idea that to get the blog hopping I had to socialize. I was just writing my little posts, hanging around and wondering why nobody ever commented. Then, when I figured it out, I kind of went crazy and started following everyone, but not leaving very insightful comments. Later still, I became more comfortable and started leaving the kinds of comments I would like to see on my blog, and since then, things have been great! I would have to agree with all your suggestions, and think that if bloggers follow that advice, their blogs will soon be very populated as well. Great tips, Natalie!
ReplyDeleteI find commenting and memes is the best way for me to do it. I think if I was doing more of the social media, I'd spend all my time there instead of reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower!

Those are all great tips, Natalie! Another way to get your name out is to get on Twitter. You can also join challenges or read-alongs or participate in events like the read-a-thon.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you're right, sometimes it does feel like a part-time job. An awesome one... but still work, none-the-less... to go through all the blogs on blog-hop I have to *really* want to know the answer to the question... like this weeks... because it's a question I've been asking... "How DO these people network?"
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Blog Hop, Follow Friday and Giveaway!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog on this blog hop! I just added myself to your followers, and can't wait to read more of your blog!

Hi! I'm a new follower from the hop, although I found your site through another site posted on the hop and followed it. I really want to read The Wedding Gift so appreciated your view on it! I am also getting ready to read The Historian so can't wait to see what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteI think good comments and memes are the two best ways to get followers!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. I agree with you about Facebook and commenting, as well as participating in memes. Before I did any of that, I was like an isolated blogger, sending my thoughts into a vacuum!
ReplyDeleteI started coming to your blog daily because you always left great comments. Now you're on my blog roll and I love your blog :) Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by this morning - we have the same taste in books. I have wanted to read The Historian and Thirteenth Tale for a while... they might be great for my trip.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Hey!! I'm loving your blog so much already I gave you an award!... check out my blog to claim it and pass it on!

I do love your comments, and they are always 'real'! :) I know what you mean about it feeling like a part-time job! Sometimes it is hard to keep up, but it is so fun we do it anyway!

hi thanks for hopping on my blog! Im a new follower too! have a great weekned
ReplyDeleteI do think that commenting is the best way to establish relationships ... but not the "hi check out my blog" kind of comment.
ReplyDeleteI do think at a certain point, too many "followers" or "readers" or whatever can get too overwhelming. I don't know how bloggers with 1000s of readers do it.
Happy weekend. Come see how I use the social networks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog! I really like yours :) Also, thanks for the links to those 2 other blogs! It was so sweet of you and I'm off to check them out right now! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi! Just hopping by on the book blogger hop. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yah, I'm the nut who lives in her closet (well as much as possible anyway). I agree with you on the commenting. I love when people comment on mine so I always try to visit them back and comment. So I feel the same things go for other people. It helps get your name out there to. I'll be following to see what you post next.

I am notorious for leave long comments, too! I always wonder if people get bothered but it but I'd rather be myself and genuinely comment on something that struck a chord with me!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! Will be following! :)
Ooh, this is a good question! And blogging definitely does feel like a part time job sometimes! But one I love. It's just so true, the amount of time to write your own and keep up with all your loves can be expansive! But there are so many amazing things out there, book suggestions or movies or decor or art. It's a beautiful social world, this blogging job. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hopping by! I agree that it's hard to keep up with all the blogs. I don't know what the max is but last I checked I was following 600 or so. Kind of impossible to keep up with them all. Those that leave meaningful quality comments are the ones I visit the most though.
ReplyDeleteOh, and in regards to your comment on drive by comments, I do have to say that sometimes it's hard to think of something to say to a review and I think at least saying SOMETHING so that they knew you at least read the review is better then nothing :)
HI! I just hopped over to check ya out! While I was here I caught your review for "The Wedding Gift," is that what it was called? I have never heard of it but I'm gonna write it down now and get it! It sounds so good, and it's been such a long time since I read a book along the lines of a ghost story! Anyways, I signed up for Ning today actually, but I haven't quite figured it out. I hate facebook, so I refuse to bring it out of the dust from whence it came haha. Well my dear, have a great weekend! And maybe check out my blog again, I changed the design today!

I have to agree about all the commenting and visiting other blogs... sometimes it does feel like a part-time job. But it's one that I enjoy!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a new blogger so I'm glas to here how other bloggers connecting :)
ReplyDeleteBack for a visit...Hopping by.

I really enjoyed visiting your blog from the hop. I will be back.
ReplyDeleteI agree - "quality" commenting can't be beaten! There's no better way of getting actual online friends, is there? And I always appreciate your comments! :)
ReplyDeleteMemes work well too don't they, even if half the time you never see the people again - for the few that you click with, it's definitely worth it. Plus they're fun!
I do appreciate your frequent comments on my blog. I agree this is the best way to gain an audience for your own blog, because sooner or later people reciprocate. My problems is that sometimes I am so overwhelmed by my job that there is not enough time for the care and feeding of my blog life!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hopping by my blog and all the kind words lately. You've been so sweet and supportive and I really appreciate it! I'm looking forward to reading your interview with Beth Revis. Have an awesome weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello! Hopping by. :]
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree - good, thoughtful comments are a powerful thing when trying to connect to other bloggers and to promote your own blog. Plus, it makes me happy to see a comment that someone put thought into, rather than a spam-like one.
Have a great rest of the weekend!
I would like to exchange links with your site coffeeandabookchick.blogspot.com
